About

This is dedicated to model making enthusiasts with a view to sharing experiences and plans.

The buzz it gives you to build a flying machine and get it flying is unique, satisfying and addictive. The experience and knowledge building gives will help you understand the theory of flight and progress in the hobby.

I started flying toy model helicopters in February 2011 and progressed to larger models only to find it got harder to master. I was then introduced to planes when my brother got me an beginner model for my birthday, a 2 channel and wasn’t long before the wings were broken beyond repair. It was back to helicopters and joined a local club but planes were still on my check list to master and wasn’t long before I picked up a second hand small scale plane. Believe it or not I found flying circuits with my t-Rex 450 easier….lol

For Christmas 2012 my wife gave me a WOT-4 and what a plane but I was still very nervous flying. One of my club mates had a beginner Yellow Cub for sale and took it off his hands to practice flying. However it was incomplete and needed some modifications to get it flying….SPLAT….. it was a nightmare to get it flying and had to do a lot study to get it flying, geometry and centre of gravity is so important. I mastered it as 3ch and added the spare wing with ailerons already fitted…..SPLAT….. problem with aileron horns poorly installed and spiralled out of control into the ground…..

One of the boys in the club obtained plans to build a Vulcan and wasn’t long before I made my own version. The maiden flight came and my nerves were tense which resulted in a 5 second flight….SPLAT. A bit of tape to reinstate the nose section and new determination, it went full power into the air and flew…… flew well and glided to a smooth landing. Wow…..I did it. Made it and flew it……

Now that Yellow Cub was in a bit of a mess and was time to build a new fuselage. Longer and fatter than the original to comfortably take a 2200mAh 3s battery.

Thanks god for Depron and UHU Por….lol
